Educational Solutions

Throughout the nation many public schools fall below the national average.  Often these schools are in low income and minority communities that lack the means to assist with school improvement. In response to this need, the Institute of Community Development has developed an innovative Adopt-A-School program.

The Adopt-A-School program will build neighborhood coalitions to adopt failing schools.  The coalitions must consist of  a for-profit business, a faith-based organization, a nonprofit organization and at least two community members.  ICD will train these coalitions on specific methods that will foster school improvement.

ICD will also engage in outreach to parents and caregivers to educate and disseminate facts about their rights under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).
