Neighborhood Development |

|
The neighborhood development program at the Institute of Community Development (ICD) promotes homeownership among low to moderate income families. Maintaining and encouraging a healthy family unit is a core guiding principle. To promote this principle, ICD engages in the practice of revitalizing abandoned/blighted properties and reselling these properties to low to moderate income families. To purchase homes under this program, families must complete the ICD Financial Preparedness workshop and “Good Neighbor” workshop. The Financial Preparedness workshop will assess individuals financial status and provide resources and tools for individuals to save, invest, and build assets to enter the financial mainstream. Individuals will be encouraged to participate in the Louisiana Saves program. The Good Neighbor workshop provides tools for first time homebuyers to assist them with maintaining homeownership and being good neighbors who care about their new community. |
